Open questions / Observation

Welcome to Open Tangents

An independent publication for ideas that cross subjects, questions that resist easy answers, and thoughts that lead somewhere unexpected.

An idea rarely ends where it begins. A question about technology becomes a question about human behaviour. A piece of history changes how the present looks. A scientific finding leaves a philosophical question behind.

Open Tangents is a place to follow those connections.

No single subject

This independent publication can explore science, artificial intelligence, politics, history, philosophy, psychology, culture, or something that doesn’t fit neatly into a category. The subject matters less than the quality of the thought.

Some pieces will be long essays. Others will be analyses, questions, observations, or short notes. There is room for a developed argument and for a question that has not yet become one.

Curiosity without manufactured certainty

An interpretation is not a fact. A possibility is not a finding. A striking claim needs more than a striking headline.

Open Tangents aims to make these distinctions clear: to link evidence where it matters, acknowledge material uncertainty, and explore disagreement without turning it into spectacle. Opinion and speculation have a place here, provided they are recognisable as such.

A starting point

The publication is beginning with this introduction. New writing will appear in the archive and the RSS feed. Topics offer different ways into the same collection of ideas.

The name is an invitation: follow the thought, notice where it takes you, and leave room for the next question.

One thought leads to another.
